Popular methods of transport have altered in recent times. Cars have long been the most likely mode of transport in developed countries, however bikes are beginning to rise in popularity. The basic key to choosing a bicycle is to buy a bicycle that you can sit on and rest your feet flat on the floor so that you can stop yourself. They say that it is better to give yourself a few inches between your feet and the ground to create a more comfortable cycling experience. The seat will usually sit a little low and too close to the crossbar if you are able to bend your knees while your feet are on the ground and your backside is on the bicycle’s seat. For a road bike you should take away 9" from the inseam measurement you took earlier. This is because of the size of the tires on your road bike. Designed for cycling around the city road bike tires are thin. You will want to subtract 12" for a mountain bike. The tires on a mountain bike are not the same as a road bike. Mountain bike tires will be thick and designed for mountainous terrain. You can advice of course use a mountain bike for road cycling but this isn't supposed to be their primary use.

You may not want to adjust the seat at all in the beginning, then after a ride realize that the way it was positioned is not the way you want it at all.
